Immediately following Tom’s death in 2007, the Martin family was approached by The Cabot Scholarship Foundation in Cabot, Arkansas and together they created the 1LT Tom Martin Memorial Scholarship to be awarded annually to a graduating senior of Cabot High School who demonstrated traits of leadership and community involvement.As each year passed and each annual scholarship was awarded, the family felt an increasing desire to do more in Tom’s memory. In 2010, Tom’s close friends and family established a foundation in Tom’s name that will allow them to have the active involvement in the process and the close connection to the work that the family was looking for. In addition to the scholarship benefiting a Cabot High School senior, the newly formed 1LT Tom Martin Memorial Foundation supported youth missions and Boy Scouts.  In 2014, the Foundation grew its efforts to support young students and leaders by offering its annual scholarship to a deserving high school student from any high school in the United States. This scholarship, along with support for youth missions and scouting, now allows the Foundation to support those leaders and causes Tom was passionate about in his life – in Cabot, in Arkansas, and beyond.

The 1LT Tom Martin Memorial Foundation was founded with a very simple goal of helping as many people as possible in the name of Tom Martin. We are intensely dedicated to preserving the memory of Tom and to supporting the people, places, and causes Tom cherished and respected. May Tom’s smile and his absolute passion for life remain alive in all of us.

14 October 2007 changed all of us. Forever. But we’ve kept spreading the word of Tom’s life and dreams and character. There are stories and photos of him circling the world – in the hands of those who knew him and many who did not. Tom’s family and friends believe that it will never be too late to learn from Tom’s story. And it will never be too late for Tom’s spirit to change this world.
